IMS courses in Science and Technology Studies

In cooporation with The European Inter-University Association on Society, Science and Technology
Students with an interest in science, society, and technology now have the opportunity for introduction and immersion to this field. Since 2009 Centre for STS Studies at Information and Media Studies (IMS), Aarhus University has been collaborating with The European Inter-University Association on Society, Science and Technology (ESST). This implies that students with a complete bachelor's degree can attend to Science and Technology Studies (STS) courses at IMS. After attending courses corresponding to 60 ECTS in STS it is possible to apply for a 1-year ESST Master.
Fall term courses
IMS offers the following courses in the fall term, that in total cover the obligatory 1.-term curriculum on the ESST study: "Innovation and Technology" (20 ECTS) and "Globalization, Technology, and Governance" (10 ECTS). The courses are in Danish, and at the same time they are offered as courses on the master at IMS.
Spring term course
IMS offers individual supervision and a course in the spring term that cover the curriculum for the second semester of the ESST Master for both Danish and foreign students that have passed the two courses in the fall term. "Analyzing IT, Organization and Agency" (10 ECTS) is offered as an intensive introductory course, along with the final ESST project (20 ECTS), which is an individual and supervised project of 15-20,000 words. This terms courses are primarily in English. Students having assed all courses and the final ESST project can apply for the ESST Master.

ESST is a union of 17 European universities that all teach and research in the common field of society, science and technology. Universities from more than 10 European countries are members of ESST, which is registered as a non-profit organization in Bruxelles. The European Inter-University Association on Society, Science and Technology (ESST) offers a 1-year master's degree in integrated society, technology and science studies.
